Relieve severe toothache pain and save your natural tooth with gentle root canal therapy.
When tooth decay or trauma penetrates deep into the inner pulp chamber of a tooth, the nerve becomes inflamed and infected, causing severe, throbbing pain.
Root canal therapy is a gentle, routine procedure that removes the infected nerve tissue, disinfects the microscopic internal canals, and seals the tooth to save it from extraction.
Contrary to outdated myths, modern root canal therapy does not cause pain; it relieves pain. Dr. John Nauss utilizes advanced rotary endodontic instruments and gentle local anesthesia, with nitrous oxide available, to keep your procedure fast, quiet, and comfortable.
Why Save Your Natural Tooth?
Saving your natural tooth root preserves jawbone density and avoids the cost of extraction and replacement.
- Immediate Pain Relief: Removes inflamed, dying nerve tissue, eliminating throbbing pain, abscess pressure, and sensitivity.
- Preserves Natural Tooth Structure: Keeps your natural tooth in place, preserving natural chewing mechanics and neighboring tooth alignment.
- Prevents Spread of Infection: Stops bacteria from spreading into the surrounding jawbone, facial spaces, or bloodstream.
- Same-Day Crown Available: In many cases, the protective crown can be designed and placed in our office the same day with CEREC.
The Root Canal Procedure Steps
Dr. Nauss thoroughly numbs the tooth and places a protective rubber dam to keep the area sterile. A microscopic access opening is made in the crown of the tooth.
Precision nickel-titanium rotary files gently clean and shape the microscopic root canals. The canals are disinfected with antimicrobial rinses, sealed with biocompatible gutta-percha, and prepared for a protective ceramic crown.
Post-Treatment Recovery
Most patients experience immediate relief from their throbbing toothache. Mild tenderness around the gumline for 24 to 48 hours is easily managed with ibuprofen. Avoid chewing hard foods on the tooth until your crown is seated.
